Day 83 – The Tarnished Washington, D.C. Spoon

Sure, I could have polished this tarnished Washington, D.C. spoon, but somehow it seemed appropriate to leave it as-is. It’s just a crappy, silver-plated spoon anyway. Plus, it’s haunted by the ghost of Merrick Garland. (He passed away, right? That’s why we never had a confirmation hearing?)

Day 82 – The 1983 Royal Tour Spoon

In March 1983, Princess Diana and Prince Charles toured Australia and New Zealand with then 1-year-old Prince William.

To celebrate their visit, someone tried to make a spoon.

And oh, how they failed. The words “Royal Tour 1983” aren’t even centered in the bowl and I’m pretty sure that’s a cartoon drawing of Prince Charles at the top.

Day 81 – Puerto Rico Sugar Spoon

Slavery was abolished in Puerto Rico on March 22, 1873, while the island was still a colony of Spain. Each year on this day, Puerto Ricans celebrate Emancipation Day (Día de la Abolición de Esclavitud) as an official holiday.

Here’s a spoon from Puerto Rico with a big, scalloped bowl. I think it’s a sugar spoon. A haunted sugar spoon.
