Day 82 – The 1983 Royal Tour Spoon

In March 1983, Princess Diana and Prince Charles toured Australia and New Zealand with then 1-year-old Prince William.

To celebrate their visit, someone tried to make a spoon.

And oh, how they failed. The words “Royal Tour 1983” aren’t even centered in the bowl and I’m pretty sure that’s a cartoon drawing of Prince Charles at the top.

Day 17 – The New Zealand Stamp Spoon

This is a new addition to the collection from my friends Trish and Brian. At the top of the spoon is a replica of the first stamp issued in 1985 for New Zealand’s Native Bird series, with an adorable bird called the Kokako on it.

There are two species of this bird: the North Island and the South Island variety. Don’t get too attached to the South Island Kokako though, because scientists are pretty sure it’s extinct.

And yes, that means this spoon is probably haunted.
