Day 64 – The Petite London Shovel

This tiny shovel from London has the coat of arms of the city at the top.

The Latin underneath reads “Domine dirige nos” which, very loosely translated, means “Lord, I am totally lost.”

The spoon (er, shovel?) is not haunted, but I expect to be visited by the ghost of my 10th grade Latin teacher later this evening.

Day 63 – The Portugal Spoon

On this day in 1493, Christopher Columbus returned to Lisbon, Portugal, after sailing through what is now the Bahamas in the Caribbean.

This spoon from Portugal is haunted by the Rooster of Barcelos. For reals, look it up.
