At the age of 74, Michelangelo succeeded Antonio da Sangallo the Younger as the architect of Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano (or just St. Peter’s Basilica), which is represented in the bowl of this spoon.
The spoon itself is probably around 100 years old, and is haunted by ghost popes.
